My name is Heather Schmidt. I am a full-time Realtor with RE/MAX. My journey into real estate had a few twist and turns. It started with 2 degrees from from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale – Aviation Maintenance and Industrial Technology. Along the way I worked at Motorola as a Manufacturing Process Engineer, and I also owned  a sub-contracting company that worked with various home builders. In 2006 I joined RE/MAX. Shortly thereafter the bubble burst, and I became a short sale / foreclosure relief expert helping homeowners avoid foreclosure and defaulting on their mortgages. Thankfully the market has stabilized, and I am able to shift my focus to empowering others and giving back.

As a trusted real estate advisor it is important to me to get to know my so that I can support them to make a decision that best serves their needs. I pride myself in being an advocate and educating my clients so that they are truly empowered.

Also, I am grateful that real estate allows me the means and flexibility to support organizations that are near and dear to my heart. I am on the Board of Directors at Mutual Ground, and agency that provides services to sexual assault and domestic violence victims. I volunteer at Ready Set Ride assisting special needs children during their horse-riding therapy sessions. And I am involved with Pathways Seminars, supporting people create the life they want to live.
